Happy New Year

Happy New Year – 2023

I’m not one for making New Year’s resolutions. Not because I am perfection personified with nothing to improve. Good Lord, not that! In fact, there is a lengthy list of improvements required. Were I a car the check engine light would be on and all sorts of warning lights would be flashing.

Rather, I am adverse to more disappointment and crushing failure in life. We all experience enough of this – why create more for yourself? If it was that easy to lose 50 pounds don’t you think it would have happened already?

Last night, as we toasted the New Year, Paul said ‘our last New Year’s Eve in this house and in Ontario.’ A big change is coming . . .

That really is our theme for the year ahead.

We are in the process of cleaning out our house (because cleaning out mom’s house wasn’t enough fun) and putting it up for sale. Our ultimate destination is 4000 kilometres away in the province of British Colombia.

We’ve been talking about this big adventure for a few years but now it is becoming real. Expect lots of ranting here as we experience the joys of a big move.

It’s a bittersweet thing. I’ve lived in this area for 58 years. It is comfortable. But I have wanderlust. It’s time to explore another area.

Onward . . .

  1. You will love BC….and the weather, depending on where you settle.
I hope you’ve picked a smaller place than the Vancouver area!
We are just too busy here now. 🙁
Something tells me you may have chosen wine country….?!

    1. Hi there. There should be a prize for the first comment! 🙂
You’re right – we are heading to Kelowna. Wine country makes us happy.
We are only a four drive from Vancouver so we envision regular trips . . . to get the big city experience we have so often now.
